Downtown Western Springs is the heart of the Community, supporting a population of 13,187 persons — a 5.6% growth since 2000 compared to 4.6% for the region. The median age of the population is 42.1, which is slightly above the 37.0 median age reported for the region. Recognizing the importance of maintaining a diversity of business options, retaining existing establishments, and developing strong economic opportunities, the Village provides support to help those who choose to invest in the community.
The Village’s Downtown area thrives with a mix of retail, restaurants, service and civic uses. Downtown is the core of the community and serves as a formal and informal gathering place. Other shopping areas, such as Garden Market Center located at 47th Street and Gilbert Avenue, also serve the Village and surrounding communities.
- The Newcomers Club is open to all residents interested in becoming acquainted with both their community and fellow villagers. You need not be "new" to Western Springs to join. The club membership is open to men, women, singles and families. More information on the Newcomers Club is available at www.westernspringsnewcomers.com.
